Skip Model Designs originally started in 2011 as part of a hobbyist’s dream of Designing & producing Giant scale model aircraft. Originally founded by Robbie Skipton, Skip Model designs Catered for Custom built giant scale model aircraft, Accessories, and Graphics.

Move Forward to 2019 when the Covid 19 Virus pandemic overtook the world….. Skip Model Designs was unfortunately forced to close due to shipping difficulties, Material availability & General cost increases that led to the Kit production to be untenable and not viable for the customer.

In 2020 Lee Hodges was in contact with Robbie regarding all things Pitts Challenger, (As SMD was known for BIG Pitts Challengers) and those conversations over some months laid the foundations for a Brilliant friendship. Both Lee and Robbie share much like mindedness and a Passion for Rc Aircraft and also the love for CAD and the enjoyment of the design process of large scale model aircraft.

Although Lee is in Australia and Robbie is in the UK, the time difference has worked out perfectly as 24 Hours a day we are available to better service you.

In 2022, Robbie and Lee with much enthusiasm mutually decided to re-launch Skip Model Designs (International) and with a new design rational, With that we undertook redeveloped of the existing designs to bring new innovation with building techniques.

Our models are designed using the best software’s in the industry, including Solidworks, Fusion 360 & Adobe Illustrator. Our kits are then produced on industry standard Laser and CNC cutting machines, From premium grade European woods. With our designs there is a high focus on ease of build, self aligning and fitting of components to enable the model to build true & Square This allows the anyone from Novice to Experience giant scale kit builder to feel comfortable with one of our kits and obtain a high standard of completed model.
